Halfway through his first round at the St. Jude Classic, Guy Boros needed a new caddy.

After coming up the hill on the 17th hole at TPC Southwind (he started on the back nine), the caddy Boros had hired to carry his bag this week began to labor in the heat and humidity and suddenly called it quits. Guy Boros backed his opening-round 67 with a 66 on Friday and is three shots behind leader Brian Gay. "I don't think anybody's scared of me," Boros said. "So I'm just going to keep playing and see what happens."

So Boros, who brought a number of family members with him to TPC Southwind this week, pulled his 16-year old nephew, Christopher, out of the gallery to caddy for him. For 28 holes, it has been a magical partnership.

Boros, who has only cashed a handful of paychecks on the PGA Tour over the past several years, backed up his opening-round 67 with a 66 on Friday and enters the weekend just three shots behind leader Brian Gay.

"I don't think anybody's scared of me," Boros said. "So I'm just going to keep playing and see what happens."

Better known as the son of Julius Boros, who won the U.S. Open in 1952 and 1963, Guy was a top-75 player on Tour in the mid-to-late 1990s and captured the Greater Vancouver Open in 1996.

Since losing his card in 1999, however, Boros has played mostly on the Nationwide Tour, winning a pair of events in 2003. Over the past five years, Boros has played just 22 PGA Tour events, mostly having to get in on sponsor's exemptions or as an alternate.
