Crispin Glover on Letterman - 1987

Another great moment in awkwardness:

The amazingly true tales of Crispin Glover

It's been 15 years since Crispin Glover, clad in a wig and a clunky pair of platform shoes, stepped onto the set of Late Night With David Letterman and delivered a high kick inches away from the host's gap-toothed noggin.

While the bizarre incident earned Crispin a swift boot off the show and into headlines, it's hardly dented his position as an American cult icon.

Oddly enough, some of Crispin's newer fans probably hadn't been born when the infamous episode aired. The actor, who regained attention with his villainous turn in Charlie's Angels, can currently be seen in Like Mike alongside the Lil'-less Bow Wow; select art-house audiences can catch him in Bartleby, a striking update of Herman Melville's Bartleby the Scrivener.

The amazing Crispin has a other film projects in the works, including the Angels sequel and a remake of 1971 horror flick, Willard. His recent slick, slimeball roles prompted Entertainment Weekly's "It List" to name Crispin as 2002's "It Creep."

Two decades ago, he could have earned the same title. With an acting career that dates back to a 1982 appearance on The Facts of Life, Crispin has enjoyed an unnaturally long reign as cinema's Prince Peculiar. Every fan has a story about when they first fell in love with the actor, whether it was when he portrayed Andy Warhol in The Doors, stuffed roaches down his pants in Wild at Heart or included his phone number on his offbeat first album, Big Problem Does Not Equal The Solution. The Solution = LET IT BE...
