Solange Knowles - Losing You (VIDEO)

Brand new video from Solange Knowles, filmed in South Africa and directed by Melina Matsoukas. Says Solange on the making of the clip: "When Melina and I decided to film 'Losing You' in South Africa, we really didn't have a real firm concept in place. It was sort of a grab a camera and let's go moment. I knew I wanted to capture a couple things: the vibe of our friendship and all of the crazy escapades we've gotten ourselves into all over the world, and the abstract and elegant Le Sape Society (Society for the Advancement of People of Elegance) formed in the Congo which was documented by Daniele Tamagni in his Gentleman of Bacongo book.

New Lauryn HIll "Fearless Vampire Killer" (VIDEO)

Some live concert footage from Washington DC of the new song Lauryn Hill has been performing recently, "Fearless Vampire Killer." The song, of course, bears the same name as a classic Bad Brains track (as well as an old horror/comedy movie from back in the day by a Roman Polanski), but I can't hear any direct similarities to the Bad Brains classic in Lauryn's song. I'd imagine Ms. Hill is quite familiar with their work, so the song title is probably an homage at the very least though. It's hard for me to make out exactly how her flow is interacting with the beat here, so I'm hoping a better quality recording will come out.

Mark Ronson & Erykah Badu on David Letterman "A La Modeliste" (VIDEO)

SuperProducer (and still a dope DJ too) Mark Ronson and Super-Everything Erykah Badu team up on the David Letterman show with one of my all-time favorite drummers, Ziggy Modeliste of the Meters, and members of the mighty Dap Kings collective for a live perormance of "A La Modeliste," from Ronson's RE:GENERATION album/CD.

Jeremy Lin Game Winner 3-Pointer vs Toronto Raptors (VIDEO)

I guess Floyd Mayweather is 41-1 now? Linsanity knows no bounds, as the NY Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin continues his incredible rise from 4th-string backup to overnight NBA star. Tonight Lin scored 27 including 12 in the fourth quarter, and this game winning shot at the buzzer in the clip above. All he needs is to get the turnovers in check and we're straight.

Look for the Jeremy Lin Knick jerseys snapback hats while you still can, and for more insight see Angry Asian Man's list of good stories about the Jeremy Lin phenomenon, including this Time magazine quote:

"[The] embrace of Lin has made millions of Asian Americans feel vicariously, thrillingly embraced. Not invisible. Not presumed foreign. Just part of the team, belonging in the game. It's felt like a breakout moment: for Lin, for Asian America and, thus, for America."

Brother Ali & Jake One "Writer's Block"

I've been waiting a long time for this project to emerge, the first single from Brother Ali's project with superproducer Jake One, "Writer's Block." The story he's telling certainly hits home for me.
