Van Der Sloot Ex-Girlfriend: He's "Charming"

Joran van der Sloot is possibly the least liked person in the world right now, with the possible exception of some BP executives. But there is one person who still actually thinks of him as "Prince Charming": his ex-girlfriend, who says he was "amazing and romantic" and she did not fully see his dark side

The ex-partner met him when they were both teenagers, and found him kind and charming from the beginning. She said: "I told him I liked red Skittles ... and what he did was he made this vase at school, went and bought a lot of Skittles packets, he took all the red ones out ... and as a present I got a vase full of red Skittles. He did things like that ... he was real thoughtful."

But then she started to notice that he had a habit of lying: "He would lie for no apparent reason at all ... and if you caught him at it ... he would double down and be even more serious about the story,

Melody Granadillo said van der Sloot was her personal Prince Charming. "He was amazing. ... He was romantic," the 23-year-old said of her former boyfriend in an exclusive interview to air on "20/20" on Friday night. "It was very playful, very honest. We could sit and talk for hours. We liked looking into each other's eyes." An excerpt of the interview was posted today on ABC News' website. Granadillo said she met van der Sloot at a mutual friend's birthday party in Aruba in October 2003 and dated for seven months. The 16-year-old fell head over heels in love with the then-17-year-old van der Sloot -- the man she calls "Chi Chi" or "Mr. Wiggles."
