Big Butter Jesus Struck Down! (VIDEO)

Was there an act of God on the side of the highway in Ohio? That's what many are wondering, as a famous statue known as "Big Butter Jesus" or "Touchdown Jesus" was actually struck down by a lightning bolt this weekend!

The statue is 60 feet tall and is well known for greeting drivers on the interestate in Ohio. But it was reportedly destroyed by a lightning strike during a storm. The fire also damaged a nearby theater, but nobody was hurt. The Jesus statue was made famous long ago when comedian/singer Heywood Banks recorded his song "Big Butter Jesus" about it. Locals are hoping the statue will be rebuilt!

Touchdown Jesus, a large statue of Jesus that sat beside interstate 75 in Ohio, was hit by lightning last night, and was destroyed. No one was injured in the fire, although the Lawrence Bishop Music Theater, which is next to the Touchdown Jesus, also suffered damage. "It has been a landmark in this area for a long time," Stephanie Lewis, of Middleton, Ohio said. Lewis, who is a guitar player, said that she learned to play Heywood Bank's comical, Big Butter Jesus, which was inspired by Touchdown Jesus.
