In a rare news event, Paris Hilton is actually using her powers for good and doing something worthwhile for humanity, as she serves as an ambassador to the troops for the USO, introducing a new program that hooks them up with mp3 players.

Paris said she is happy to do the work for the troops. "I'm always looking for ways I can use my voice as a celebrity and I think there is nothing more worthwhile and patriotic than supporting our troops, It's so easy to take for granted our freedom and happiness and forget about those who are endangering their lives every day to make it possible."

Paris Hilton is doing her part for the country this Memorial Day. She is ambassador for a new USO program that gives mp3 players to soldiers. The goal of the program is to give a new MP3 player to every active-duty service member in Iraq and Afghanistan after a City University of New York study found that music is one of the most prominent stress relievers for U.S. service men and women. Each player will be pre-loaded with songs from a variety of artists who have donated their music to the effort. The special USO Songs for Soldiers MP3 players, created by FlatFlash Duo, can also store pictures, video and documents and fit easily into a pocket.
