Megan Fox: Lara Croft?

Rumors were flying yesterday that the deal was sealed for Megan Fox to take over as Lara Croft in the next Tomb Raider movie. But was this the real deal, or just an early April Fools red herring? The answer below.

There had been rumblings for some time now that the Tomb Raider blockbuster movie franchise, based on the classic video games, was looking to make a fresh start and replace their original star Angelina Jolie with the younger Megan Fox. And this week the rumors reached a fever pitch, with many expecting an official announcement this week.

But now the studio has shot down the hopes of Megan Fox fans, reporting that she is not connected with the project at all. In fact it turns out Fox may have turned down the role because she wants to avoid continued comparisons with Angelina Jolie, which have already haunted her throughout her career (though there are certainly worse associations to have!)

No word yet on whether the Tomb Raider franchise will continue with Jolie or find another new replacement. Maybe they can get Lady Gaga, she seems like she could beat people up pretty well.
