Dr. W.G. Watson Turns 100! (NEWS)

Dr. W.G. Watson, legendary as one of the oldest practicing doctors of all time, this week celebrated his 100th birthday, and his colleagues in Augusta Georgia say he has delivered over 15,000 babies in that time!

He has worked at University Hospital since 1947, and delivered several generations of babies for the same family in many cases. As a veteran health care provider he is a legend in the world of medicine, and hero to physicians and practitioners nationwide.

Watson will be the beneficiary of a gala celebration, and tribute on the front lawn of his hospital, and it is well deserved!

Happy birthday Dr. Watson, your service has been far more than elementary.

University Hospital's legendary Dr. W.G. Watson is celebrating his 100th birthday, and a lifetime of service to Augusta. Hospital leaders estimate he has delivered between 16,000 to 18,000 babies over his near 60 year career. He entered medicine in 1947, and has worked at University Hospital ever since. Some of his patients, Dr. Watson says, have been coming to him for 55 years. There are many families in out area that have several generations of babies delivered by the doctor. We spoke with one Aiken family who has 16 children, all delivered by Watson.
