Sarah Palin Aide Resigns (NEWS VIDEO)

Signs of trouble in the Palin empire, as one of Sarah Palin's top aides and advisers has suddenly resigned, according to Politico.

The aide, Palin's senior adviser and spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton, handed in her resignation this week, for reasons that are not yet entirely clear.

Stapleton said officially that she is stepping down to spend more time with her family, specifically her two uear old daughter that she spends limited time with right now.

Said Stapleton: "While it has been an honor to help Gov. Palin and her family over the last few years, I am also honored to have this incredible opportunity to stay home with my precious miracle, Isabella..."

But of course, since "spending more time with the family" is the cliche excuse for stepping down, some are speculating that their may be other reasons for the shakeup in Sarah Palin's team. I guess for now we'll just have to wait and see. Best of luck to Meghan Stapleton with her daughter though! Certainly no one would doubt that that love is real, regardless of whatever else is going on.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's senior adviser and spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton has resigned, POLITICO has learned. Stapleton has been a Palin confidant since December 2006 and one of the governor's most trusted aides since she was vaulted onto the national political scene by being picked as GOP presidential nominee
John McCain's running mate. Stapleton said she resigned to spend more time with her husband and 2-year-old daughter, Isabella.
