December 20, 2009Wynn Rembrandt: Insanely Expensive
Steve Wynn, the famous Las Vegas Casino tycoon, has made a fortune from getting people to throw huge amount of money around gambling at his casinos, and now he's throwing pretty hefty sums around himself, as the NY Times reports Wynn was the anonymous bidder that bought a rare Rembrandt painting for a whopping record price of $33.2 million! THe bid was made by phone, and Christie's was refusing to identify the winning bidder, but the Times ID-ed him as Wynn, who is known to be a collector of and investor in fine art. And this Rembrandt will now be the crown jewel in his collection! Unless he loses it at the poker table. Posted at December 20, 2009 6:35 AM Comments
The economy is tanking, and this pompous, napoleonic deuche bage spends $33 million to stroke his over sized ego, and undersized everything else. This is why people hate Americans! Posted by: Toomuch Sense at December 20, 2009 12:08 PM The dude has the money, let him spend it on whatever he likes. I seriously doubt that this is the reason people hate Americans. Posted by: savuka at December 20, 2009 12:53 PM The possibility of acquiring the means to make choices others could hardly dream of is the essence of why so many love America. The disposition to expect to decide what choices others should make does lead to bad feelings, and that disposition is a stain on humanity. Posted by: Dennis at December 20, 2009 12:54 PM Everyone has the right to spend their money as they see fit. The man created his empire, it is his right. Does not affect me in any way nor anyone else. Posted by: Jose Gomez at December 20, 2009 2:26 PM I've met this guy and, he is a pompous, napolionic deuche bag.
