Tylenol Caplet Recall


Tylenol is expanding its recall of certain caplets, after safety concerns have arisen around abnormalities in some pill bottles.

Consumers have reported several batches of Tylenol having an odd smell, leading to a voluntary recall of Tylenol Arthritis Caplets, though no illnesses have been reported yet. Johnson & Johnson reports the odor is caused by a chemical in the pills called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole. That chemical apparently appeared in trace amounts because of the breakdown of another chemical used to treat wooden pallets that transport and store packaging materials where the Tylenol Caplets are produced.
