faheel: it is actually pretty rare for straight vaginal sex to spread HIV, even with no protection. I can't remember the exact chance but I'm pretty that its less than 1% per time.

Actually, it is easier for a woman to contract the HIV virus than a man, unless anal sex is invloved. It involves the inside walls and absorbtion of liquids. Look it up!! Which is a moot point in this case as the man already had the HIV virus. Condoms or not, it was the woman's right to refuse sex in this marriage, as I am sure she was wondering how her husband contracted the virus and she did not. He should be punished with a stiff jail sentence as he has literally taken her life away.
