Edward Mezvinsky Sentenced for Fraud

The Mezvinsky family is celebrating this week as their son Marc, a financial analyst and investor, announces his engagement to Chelsea Clinton. But the family's ventures haven't always brought such good tidings, as Marc's father Edward Mezvinsky was only recently released from prison after being sentenced for fraud.

The senior Mezvinsky was convicted of wire fraud and bank fraud in the amount of $10 million, and sentenced to 80 months, for dealings years after he served in Congress. He was released in 2008. But although his son Marc is now in the financial sector as well, and dabbling with big time political connections, it wouldn't be fair to hold his father's sins against him. Hopefully there won't be too much emphasis placed on this history as the press covers Marc's marriage to Chelsea.

Mezvinsky was also involved in a series of business transactions that ultimately became his downfall. In 2000, after examining his business deals since 1980, prosecutors said that they uncovered elements of fraud in nearly every one. In March 2001, Mezvinsky was indicted and later pleaded guilty to 31 of 69 charges of bank fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud. Nearly $10 million was involved in the crimes...

Disappointed ! Are they in love the old-fashioned way or just another crass arrangement with financial security and political prestige involved. If she had met just another average "John Doe", like a school teacher or an electrician I would have said "Hooray-Chelsea is one of us", but people in DC, including our Reps are not just one of us. I guess she is, after all, just a chip off the ol; block

Happy for Chelsea. One should not "jump" to conclusions; in any case it is each to their own. One should realize that who one meets can very much depend on one circle of friends, family acquaintances and work colleagues. When they marry, I wish Chelsea and her fiancee a very happy married life together.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FORMER PRESDIENT AND MRS. CLINTON AND THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING WITRH MR. MAVINSKEY SHOULD NEVER EVER REFLECT THE KIDS.
IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT NOR THEIR PROBLEM.
BECAUSE IF EVERYTHING WE DID AS PARENTS REFLECTED OUR KIDS AS IT DOES AND WE BLAME THEM FOR OUR FAULTS AND NOT LET OUR LIVES REFLECT THEIR HAPPINESS.
AND HOW THEY GOT ENGAGED OR HIS PROFESSION AGAIN SHOULD NOT REFLECT WHAT HIS DAD HAS DONE.
THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK THE APPLE DOSEN'T FALL FROM THE TREE BETTER LOOK BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT PERFECT.
MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS CHELSEA AND MARC.
