Peru Gang: Fat Pirates?

Most people are dying to get rid of their extra body fat, but some criminals believe your fat quite valuable. So valuable that they'd kill you for it! For at least one Peru gang, fat is big business. Or so they hope.

Authorities in Peru say gang members are killing people so they can sell the victim's body fat for use in the cosmetics industry. Experts say there wouldn't be much demand for this fat, as huge amounts of body fat are available from liposuction and other similar cosmetic surgery, so the criminals will probably not benefit much from their murderous fat harvesting. Hopefully somebody will tip them off to this, so no more innocent lives are lost!

Police say a gang in the Peruvian jungle has been killing people and draining fat from the corpses to sell on the black market for use in cosmetics, although medical experts say they doubt a major market for fat exists thanks to the plentiful fat available from liposuction procedures...suspects were arrested carrying bottles of liquid human fat and told police it was worth $60,000 a gallon. The fat was sold to intermediaries in Lima, and police suspect it was then sold to cosmetic companies in Europe.
