Lil Wayne Expects One-Year Sentence

Lil Wayne may be the hottest rapper in the world, but that won't help him escape the long arm of the law. In fact it may have brought that long arm towards him even more quickly, as he is the latest of many rappers pursuit by authorities. After being busted on gun charges, Lil Wayne expects a one-year sentence to be handed down any day now.

The bust came in 2007 in Manhattan, when police "just happened" to pull over his tour bus, and found unlicensed weapons on board. Wayne originally faced 3.5 years, but his defense attorneys helped him reach a new deal where he pled guilty and got a chance at a shorter sentence. Many suspect Wayne was the latest of many rappers who have been specifically targeted by NY's "hip-hop cops", who go out of the way to bust artists for what are really minor offenses.

The Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession on Thursday, and expects to receive a one-year jail sentence. He previously had pleaded not guilty to illegal gun possession charges that carried at least 3.5 years in prison upon conviction. Police said a gun was found on his tour bus in Manhattan in 2007...

I think its crap,my brother got 4 years for a much less serious weapons violation.
Shame my bro is not a hip hop star maybe he would have got off free.
He should have to do the whole 3.5 years like any other citizen would!
And pay a ridicules fine that would actually hurt him financialy.

This jackass has been partly responsible for the deterioration of the minds of many of our young children. He is one that sets a bad example and one can only hope that this sentence he receives is the start of one of many to come for him.......

All of the people that posted comments, are rediculiously out of the loop and should get the facts before you pass judgement. He was stopped illegally by police and the gun that happened to be on the bus was in one of his friends bag not his. He is getting the charge solely for the purpose of owning the tour bus.
