The Police handled this extremely well. I could tell by the way she responded after seeing her husband she's used to getting by off her looks. He doesn't want to hear and explanation and neither do the police.

"Eye for an eye"? It's been at least 50 years since America has even pretended to practice "eye for an eye"! That is the problem! To get the death penalty one usually has to kill more than one person and it must be an extremely grievous and brutal murder! Hardly "eye for an eye"! There was a time when if you murdured someone you were tried and hung within months in a very public display. And it WAS an effective deterrent!

With all the mandatory appeals following conviction for a death sentence, average time on death row is 28 years before execution or (more often) NATURAL death! Of COURSE capital punishment is no longer a deterrent - by the time it occurs the victim is barely remembered! Meanwhile, prisoners on death row have advantages other prisoners don't to the extent some prisoners are now REQUESTING to be sentenced to death so that they can BE on death row!

If America truly had an "eye for an eye" justice you would have far less crime, far fewer 'victim's rights' groups and restitution would be encoded in law.

JV Carter needs to wake up and smell the blood flowing from the innocent. Our practice of locking up criminals for years is a first in human history.

It doesn't work. The innocent are harmed without true retribution. Innocent taxpayers pay for the food, medical treatment, and television sets of rapists and murderers. The guilty become even more hardened by an insane system where there is no discipline or rehabilitation, but the worst criminals run the show, not the guards.

Murderers, rapists, and child molesters do a few years behind bars becoming even more violent and depraved, and are then let out again and again to prey upon innocent people.

Prisons do not work. Corporal punishment is the only solution. Right now our society is making the choice to allow the innocent to suffer to protect the 'rights' of the guilty. I say enough. Steal a candy bar, get a whack over the back with a cane pole. Steal a car, lose a finger. Steal again, lose a hand. Murder someone, bullet in the back of the head after only one review by an independent panel. Rape, lose your balls. Rape again, bullet. Sexually harm a child? Bullet. Make it all public to reinforce the deterence. If we cannot protect the most innocent among us, our society isn't worth protecting.

Why can women and children walk anywhere they wish at any time of night in Singapore? Because they do just this. It works. It's brutal, yes. But fair, and just. And the innocent do not suffer, just the guilty. Enough of this madness. We can't allow our children to walk down their own street today, for fear of the likely dozen child abusers within a square mile of where you are right now. Why do we allow such filth to live freely among us and our children? WHY?! Some human beings are animals and need to be treated as such. The lives of a dozen rapists are not worth the life of one decent man, woman or child.
