Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, Lil Wayne & Blackface..! (VIDEO)

Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Whitney Isleib was perhaps only trying to have some harmless fun dressing up like a favorite rapper Lil Wayne, but her darkened-skin Halloween costume is bringing lots of controversy over its similarity to the age-old racist tradition of wearing blackface.

It seems clear the young cheerleader just didn't know any better when she dressed up this way, even it's hard to imagine not realizing the historical baggage behind this sort of makeup. I hope that she can just own up to her mistake and apologize, and then be allowed to learn from it and move on.

dumb A$% cheerleader probably does not even know what "blackface" I mean, a cheerleader? I wonder if she grew up thinking?" i want to be a cheerleader when I grow up. Eye candy for sure but probably not a card carrying member of MENSA lol

Hearing the comments made by those two idiot blonde women, The one that doesn't see anything wrong with it, and the other that thinks a big stink is made just because she's a cowboy cheerleader, that says it all. I would love to see her go dressed like that through the streets of Compton, then see if she still thinks there's nothing wrong with it. Remind me to dress as a dumb-ass Redneck from Dallas for next Halloween.

Wake up people!! This is still AMERICA until Obama takes our right of ''freedom of expression''
away. The girl did nothing wrong. She didn't demean the rapper or blacks in general. She emulated her icon. Leave it alone.

Posted by: william at November 4, 2009 5:51 AM

Seriously, is this the America we've become, even after electing Obama? If anyone is offended then it must be wrong? Perhaps those who are offended should be ridiculed... very sad indeed. Talk about fabricating news... Geeze!!

Posted by: Truth Avenger at November 4, 2009 6:05 AM

Are you people serious!?!?! Its a halloween "COSTUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The ONLY RACISM I'm See/hearing are from those saying that "she shouldn't have done that because she's WHITE." Can you say REVERSE DESCRIMINATION? It's fine for black kids/people to dress as...oh Batman, or Spiderman, or Disney Princesses (ALL WHITE BY THE WAY...but oh my god...that white kid/person better not dress as a black character. ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS!!! GROW UP!!!!!! "Oh if she walked through Compton"...blah...blah...blah. Dress like whatever you want. 1. It's Halloween. 2. We "WHITE PEOPLE" don't really care. 3. (and most important) EVen if we did care...we wouldn't be allowed to say ANYTHING...because we'd be racist.

THIS is the problem...the double standard. I can be called WHITE...but I better not call others Black or Indian (unless they're from INDIA that is)...cause that racist. In my experience THE MOST RACIST...BIGOTED...CLOSED MINDED people I have ever met...are from the SO CALLED minority groups.

I have always felt people are people...that's all. Color doesn't figure into it with me...until this kind of stupid stuff shows up in the media...and then I realize how STUPID and PETTY people can be.

Posted by: Aaron at November 4, 2009 6:48 AM

Come on, it's a cheerleader!!!!!

Posted by: V at November 4, 2009 7:18 AM

If you cant dress-up in costume at Halloween then when can you? Who cares if she is a cheerleader, aren't they allowed to enjoy the holiday as anyone else. It is BS like this that reminds everyone about racial issues and the media helps to fuel racial issues. If they didn't the racial issues might go away and then there would be less news as Americans might actually get along. If she had been mexican and dressed up as Lil Wayne, would there be a problem? I've had oriental friends dress like a black celebrity and everyone that saw him, including blacks, laughed and nothing was said. So why now?

Posted by: Ironass at November 4, 2009 7:22 AM

just a question. If she dressed as lil wayne without darkening her face, aka "white lil wayne" would there still be controversy. Yes, black face was used in the past in our society. Was is demeaning? Of course it was. I would like to think that in this day and age, we should be able to realize the difference between being a bigot and harmless fun. It's her favorite rapper for goodness sake, I really doubt she was trying to make a racist halloween statement.

Posted by: kinzie at November 4, 2009 7:29 AM

Ok so balck face chearleader bad.......waynes brothers movie "white chicks" ok. And by ok i mean socialy, as far as movies go it sucked

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 8:01 AM

So its ok for the wayens brothers to make a movie like "white chicks" (which sucked by the way) but everyone has a problem with this....and yes by everyone i mean disgruntled black people with nothing better to do. Ok now everyone comment about how i'm such a racist, because thats what you do best.

Posted by: john at November 4, 2009 8:06 AM

The only racist behavior is the from the commentary saying it was wrong. It was harmless and unintended. You can easily see the true problems in America when you hear the Compton comments. If a black person dresses up as a white character or icon there's never a word said or printed. No big deal! Why is that? God forbid if it's the other way around. Why are you folks so easily offended? I believe that you should look inward for that answer and then you'll see where the issue truly lies and that my friends is inside yourself and not with this innocent young woman dressing to immulate her favorite rapper. This is all truly childish. Where is your hope and Obamanism?

Posted by: Buddha at November 4, 2009 8:15 AM

wow Michael your an idiot...whats the big deal. people of both races dress up as geeks, jocks, strippers, whatever. Blacks make fun of white people and have B.E.T. what if white people did it...oh damn it's a stink b/c white people are being racist.
SPARE ME THE CRAP! Racism goes both ways! Black people get crooked looks and so do white people, spanish people etc. SPARE ME YOU CRAP! I am a mix so I don't care what look you give me!
AND JOHN YEAH WHITE CHICKS WAS FINE! GOOD POINT! SO SHUT UP ALL YOU HATERS!

Posted by: jill at November 4, 2009 8:19 AM

You idiots are ridiculous, how is OK for Eddie Murphy to make a living in front of the Camera by dressing up as A White Jewish Man, A White Woman etc...
This girl went to a Private Halloween party dressed as a rapper..
How many Black People out there went to Halloween Parties dressed as a White Person
Personally I went to a Halloween Party dressed as an Oreo Cookie...Was I making fun of our President? I guess that would all depend on who you asked

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 8:28 AM

Much to do about NOTHING!

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 8:50 AM

Lol! The media is making a big deal out of this! Whats funny is that the people they interviewed are saying that they represent an organization, should be professional and little girls look up to them ... they're scantily clad women! How serious can you take these women?! I don't want my girls looking at these women thinking, "Hey, thats cute, I want to dress like that".

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 8:54 AM

Two years ago my room mate and I went to a halloween party (Shes Black) and I'm Jewish. I surprised her by going as James Brown. she laffed her ass off. Last year we went as a couple, Ike and Tina Turner. We won best couple in the costume contest. No one took offense to my being in Black Face. It would have been more offensive I think If I was Ike turner and White. We had a blast and all our black and white friends thought it was funny. People need to get a life, and stop worrying about old stereotypes, and just love one another. dont make a big deal about nothing. Lets start worrying about things like Energy, food, jobs, and making this tiny planet a better place for everyone.

Posted by: Stephen Mann at November 4, 2009 8:57 AM

Guess Willie can't dress up as Batman anymore either.

Posted by: Ric Fortner at November 4, 2009 9:15 AM

Apparently its okay to say a "dumbass Redneck from Dallas"? And white people are always the racists. Please.

Posted by: Jo at November 4, 2009 9:19 AM

First of all, it was not black faced. She actually put thought into the process and used some kind of make up that actually represents the African American skin color; hues of brown.
Second, it's Halloween, you use costumes. Lil Wayne is not white, DUHHHHHHHH. Get a life people and take a chill pill. If you were to dress up as a pickle, would your costume be orange? Think about it.

Posted by: JLo at November 4, 2009 9:25 AM

The point is it's a HALLOWEEN COSTUME!!! And it's not like she just painted her face...she did all of her skin and if she didn't, no one would know who the hell she was trying to be and if people could figure it out she'd probably be criticized for making Lil Wayne "white"! If anything, people should be impressed that she went out of her way to make her costume as close to the real thing as she could...it's flattering! I mean let's face it, he has dark skin..it would be like a kid dressing up as Winnie the Pooh for Halloween and painting themselves yellowish/orangeish! Poor girl probably went out that night thinking she had a bomb costume and it gets exploded into a racist thing because someone sees a white person painted black and automatically goes back a few centuries & assumes it was done in malice!

Posted by: Ashley at November 4, 2009 9:31 AM

Ok..so it's not ok for her to dress up as someone she idolizes (which happens to be a different color than she is) but it is ok for the Wayan Brothers to make a movie where they are dressed up at "WHITE CHICKS" and everyone thought that was funny. I personally thought the movie was funny and did not take it as racism in any way. So why should people take this cheerleaders dressing up as a form of racism???

Posted by: AtWork at November 4, 2009 9:57 AM

1st of all u have 2 think of how all the racism came about...if the white man had left the black man in Africa then there would be no racism in America... unless it was towards the Native Americans and Mexicans...they were here long before either white or black man came here.

Posted by: VictorBeaugard at November 4, 2009 10:01 AM

Funny, I have seen black people on the television dressed up and impersonating Elvis Presley, even when it wasn't as a halloween costume. Never even heard anything about it. People dress up as celebrities for halloween all the time. I really don't understand that people have to be so small as to make a big deal about nothing. Get a life!

Posted by: sickofit at November 4, 2009 10:19 AM

Hey people I don't see anything wrong with her dressed as Lil Wayne. It's Halloween and supposed to be harmless fun. Damn people have too much time on their hand to keep making stuff like this news. For the black folks complaining about I say get a life. I am black and don't see anything wrong with it, I just think its funny and fun. Apparently she adores Lil Wayne and that's why she was dressed up as him.

Posted by: ED at November 4, 2009 10:26 AM

slow news day

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 10:28 AM

HELLO!!! It is Halloween... if she was dressed up in black-face playing a pimp or drug dealer, then, it would be offensive. Would someone dressed up a a witch or devil automaticaly be into satanic worship? She is a f-ing cheerleader not the stat govenor!

Posted by: Rappie at November 4, 2009 10:46 AM

A lot of people have lost their sense of humor or never had one in the first place.

Posted by: Mike P at November 4, 2009 11:08 AM

who gives a fvck?

Posted by: Aaron at November 4, 2009 11:21 AM

Give me a break offensive? No way She is just supporting & imitating one of her favorite rap artists,What if a black celebrity, or any black
person wore white face would we be talking about that? The media should concentrate on something more important, a lot of white women adore & love black men its a fact. America grow up.

Posted by: Kathy at November 4, 2009 11:39 AM

Who the crap is Lil Wayne?

Posted by: bo at November 4, 2009 12:18 PM

Mike P and ED and Rappie and Aaron said it all....I think if she wasnt a dallas cheerleader you all would be somewhere else making stupid comments...black, white even obama came up...its crazy..those republicans sigh!!! lol
Anyways what she did was funny as hell we shouldnt care...i sure dnt i give her props its very creative the best i've seen...dnt let the Media dictate ur thoughts...im still laughing tht ish was funny!!

Posted by: O Wade at November 4, 2009 12:34 PM

Personally, there is no controversay. She did a pretty good Lil Wayne impression. I think it is very cool. Besides White youth listen to more Rap and Hip than Black youth. So what's wron with her being a fan America. Anyone that has a problem with a Holloween Custom has serious identity problems with themselves. This isn't news. It's just plain clean fun. That's All Folks.

How can this crap make it as national news?... I understand if you are the son/daughter of a camp survivor and somebody walks in wearing a Nazi costume... but wearing a costume that resembles a famous character/person is typical during Halloween... what is it with you? get a life!!.. stop whining about everything!

Posted by: Joe Red at November 4, 2009 4:14 PM

Wow...I'm black and I don't think it was racist but it wasn't funny...but I think it racist for all u white people with your extremely hurtful comments...I can't believe you talk this way when we can't see you...you all are a bunch of closet biggots...black people aren't racists were victims....of generations after generations of torture, rape, and humiliation...ask your self...if youu were torchured for years...how would you view your attacker...would you ever forgive them....

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 7:51 PM

okay for starters you were never used as a slave (person above)...stop using the horrible things african americans went through back in the day for your own selfish benefit in present day. that is not right at all. you get everything you could ever want in America and people OBVIOUSLY are so careful to not offend that everyone is walking on eggshells. It is a costume and how is it racist if lil wayne is her favorite rapper? people dress up as celebrities all the time. what are we supposed to do now is no one supposed to dress up anymore for halloween because some costume somewhere might offend someone in some obscure way? everyone's looking for anything they can find to call out or lay blame nowadays i swear...and I'm tired of white people being the only race thats racist...such bullshit.saying only white people are racist is a racist comment in and of itself! every race can be racist. Making a huge deal about something as insignificant as a costume of a current popular celebrity is whats keeping racism alive and fueling the fire for hate. ridiculous. oh, and if you ask me whats RACIST is the fact that people are freaking out because the lil wayne costume was worn on the apparently wrong skin color...is she not allowed to like lil wayne? is she not allowed to dress up as him or like him because she is not black? give me a break people. I seriously SERIOUSLY doubt that this cheerleader had an agenda and went as lil wayne because she hates black people and is racist. If she did, she would not be dressing up as lil wayne for sure. c'mon. this is laughable and extremely embarrassing for everyone who took offense to this costume. get over yourself and get a life.

Posted by: gimmeabreak at November 5, 2009 10:00 AM

the only racists in this incident are the so-called journalist at the cbs station and others that are trying to make it racist. People like al sharpton and jesse jackson will be coming to make it racist as well, but the media will never call them racists because the media is just as racist as they are.

The culture of hate within this country continues to grow. We have "African-Americans"(phrase made PC in the 90's, previously black, previously negro, and somewhere along the way "people of color"), that have the right to be pissed by any little thing that can be construed as a racial slur.

A cheerleader dresses up as a black rapper, and this is racially insensitive? Black actor's dress up as white women and it is funny?

We have individuals in this country that want to harken back to the day of the recently set free slave, and cry foul over "generations after generations of torture, rape, and humiliation". Were you one of those generations? How far removed from one of those generations are you? You Grandparents, great grandparents, great great? Come on. How have YOU been tortured, humiliated, raped by a white person or a white government?

Minorities in this country have it better than they seem to realize or will admit. They are protected by the media from imaginary offenses such as this, because of THIS COUNTRY'S (Not "WHITE America" - and I hate this phrase) past transgressions, given preference by state and federal government in social programs, and have a far louder voice than the so called majority, because they can scream RACISM, and not be held accountable for their own racial biases.

We had a revolution for your ancestors because not all white people thought that a person should be owned by another, not because we felt sorry for the plight of the black man. We didn't trade in the black slave for a yellow or red one. We quit slavery all together.

How are blacks the victim here? You have never been owned. Your parents were never owned, nor your grandparents, nor their parents. How long must this racially motivated hatred based on something over a century an a half old go on?

What is it going to take? Reparations? Come on! This country has given trillions of dollars in social services, grants, scholarships, et al over the last 5 decades specifically to "those of color" and no one else. What more do you want? An apology? Okay, you have gotten that over and over again from everyone that has been called out for a real or imagined offense, especially in the media. But here's another for no reason. I am sorry.

Do yourselves and the rest of the country a favor; Take a deep breathe, become the best person you can be, and forget that you are black for just a second. Are you where you are, doing what you are doing, and have what you have because of your color? I know I am not. I am where I am, doing what I do, and have what I have because of who I am, my abilities, and my drive. I propose that the same is true for "Black America". But the focus is on the past. Get over what happened to your ancestors. It didn't happen to you. You don't see Jews pissed at Egypt for the enslavement of their ancestors.

This was all over an Halloween costume. The one night in the year, that people are expected to paint their faces some strange or different color, dress up in clothes that they would never otherwise wear, and pretend to be something or someone that they find interesting or scary.

What next? Laws for racial equality in holiday attire, and/or decorations?

Posted by: AnnoyedByHipocrites at November 5, 2009 12:57 PM

It is never flattering, whites in BF has racist origins. It was invented by racist American whites for the sole purpose of demonizing black Americans and to justify SLAVERY and second class citizenship of said target group.

Whites in BF is always a bad idea.
