Breckenridge Votes to Legalize Marijuana!

The town of Breckenridge Colorado has the Nation buzzing, no pun intended, after confirmation that Breckenridge votes to legalize marijuana in this yesterday's election day.

Breckenridge citizens passed Measure 2F by a wide margin, getting rid of criminal penalties for possessing a small amount of marijuana, and the laws against bongs and other pot-smoking accessories.

Heartwarming news for the many Americans who believe that marijuana, though it should be regulated, ought not be treated the same as harder drugs like cocaine or heroin, and especially that the many uses of medicinal marijuana should be recognized, as it is known to be helpful as an alternative medicine treament for nausea, glaucoa, high stress and anxiety and many other ailments. Personally I do not partake of the drug, but I see no reason why it should be treated worse than cigarettes, which have a much clearer track record of damaging people's health.

I'm just a simple person who happens to be a legal cigarette smoker. I am amazed at the hypocrisy of the people who condemn 'second hand smoke' and pretend to be frightened of developing lung cancer and heart disease from the carcenogens we evil smokers put into the air, and then fight so hard to let stinky marijuana smoke be the new social pastime!!!! However will you people be able to breathe and what's to become of the planet?

Finally a little sense in the law. A little toke will do good for a lot of common folks.

Mrs. P,

Pretend? Contracting lung cancer is not an illegitimate fear. How can you "pretend" that such a habit does not put others in danger?

Also, just because this town has legalized another form of smoking doesn't mean that us "non-smokers" condone it. Hypocrisy? I think not.

Go smoke a pack and think about what you're doing to your body. Personally, I wouldn't want to be the one hacking up pieces of my lungs.

P.S.

I can see both sides of the argument on marijuana. I would not be against supporting the medicinal aspects of this drug.

medical, personal... no punishment! stop making otherwise legitmate citizens criminals! teke mexican drug lords out of the picture. let me do my own! you can't control it... admit that. the citizens that are in jail now??? waste of money against CITIZENS who are no threat! legalize it now!

Mrs P. you are an idiot. Go smoke yourself to death. No one said it would be legal in public establishments... Cigarettes kill everything they contact. Pot has never been attributed to a death, plus it isn't chain-smoked or treated as a crutch like your cigarettes...

In responce to all my 'fans and well wishers'; I challenge you all to investigate for yourselves the claims of harm caused by cigarette smoke. Please compare it with the studies on the harm caused by wood smoke such as campfires, fireplaces and wood stoves. Also investigate the so called 'med research' declaring third hand smoke a health hazard for non smokers. I do not believe smoking is beneficial to anyone, it just isn't any worse than wood smoke in the air. If you look into the matter, and you happen to be a person who enjoys a fireplace in the winter, be advised, you are killing yourselves and your innocent neighbors, according to scientific research. And lets not forget all the expensive vehicles (doctors seem to favor diesel) that burn diesel fuel. In smoking research, cigarettes are likened to harmful effects of diesel fuel. I sincerely hope no one develops lung cancer from any cause.

ummm mrs.p .. wood is my only source of heat ...should i put my fire out ?...please go drink some more kool-aid and stop your worthless posts

Posted by: f u mrs.p at November 7, 2009 6:58 PM

i personally i have seen major damages inspired by the drug. main example my dad started on pot and ended 60000 in debt with cocaine. my family was never the same. That's just the short story. I still oppose leagalizing it only because my list of what i've seen and lived through are pretty horrible. I know pot its self didn't cause his actions but they were the beginning to his actions later. I don't want to live through it again.

For my newest fan, your responce makes my accusation of hypocracy a statement of fact rather than an opinion. I have no problem with the fact that you use wood to provide heat for yourself. I simply drew your attention to the fact that my smoking cigarettes are not more of a danger than your wood smoke. You decided to justify what you choose to do even if it harms yourself and others and STILL point a finger (the middle one I presume)at legal smokers according to your own personal predjudice. It's also my experience (born out in these responces) that smokers seem to be far less rude than non-smokers. America is still a great place to live!! We are all allowed to have personal opinions and speak as respectfully or rudely as we wish.
