October 28, 2009Trial Begins for Raymond Jessop
That Texas polygamist sect that made big news last year is about to be back in the news, as the trial Begins for Raymond Jessop, their leader. Jessop, a 38 year old known as the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is facing years maximum in prison for his alleged sexual assault of a child, based on his marriage to an underage girl in the sect. Over 400 children were taken away from the sect in what became a legal quagmire, and is sure to be a hugely complex legal process again, as they are just starting to try and find a viable jury.
