October 14, 2009Bernie Madoff Prison Scuffle
You may not be surprised to hear that Bernie Madoff found himself in a prison scuffle, but more surprising are the reports that Bernie won the fight! The 71-year old Wall Street master criminal got into a fight with another older man (about the stock market!) and from all reports Madoff was the victor in the altercation. Perhaps we shouldn't be TOO surprised after the muscle he put into shoving that paparazzi a few months ago, but the ponzi scheme master didn't seem like the fighting type. Madoff was a master financier and former head of the NASDAQ exchange before his financial advice turned out to be the basis of a huge ongoing scam that bilked countless investors. He is an animal in or out of jail. I hope they kill him in there. Posted by: Harriet Jones at October 14, 2009 6:19 AM do not bleam madoff, every dollar he took there was a greedy person behind it;. Posted by: Anonymous at October 14, 2009 7:04 AM Don't blame Madoff? Yes, blame Madoff and the others that (family) were obviously in on the scheme. Not all the people were extremely high dollar investors. There were regular people that were counting on that money for their retirement. I wish he had his butt kicked. He needs a bit more than just life in prison. Posted by: Chris at October 14, 2009 7:31 AM there is a mount some were he could jump into history. the best thing for the pain he has given so maney. Posted by: jazzie at October 14, 2009 10:12 AM He shouldn't be in jail...they should have taken all his money and left him on the street, like he did all his loyal customers. Posted by: Sue at October 14, 2009 10:30 AM GO MADOFF! IF YOU INVESTED WITH HIM YOU WERE OUT TO MAKE A FAST BUCK JUST LIKE HE WAS. NO INOCENT PEOPLE WERE A VICTEM IN THIS ONE. THEY JUST FEEL SORRY FOR THEMSELVES NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THE REST OF US. I THINK ITS GREAT! GO MADOFF! Posted by: Anonymous at October 14, 2009 10:58 AM Your right, I just don't want to pay for his needs, he needs to be on the street not in some warm prison getting his 3 meals every day. Posted by: Sue at October 14, 2009 11:02 AM MADOFF IS A GENUIS STOP BEING JEALOUS. LET THE MAN GET HIS $ BACK AND HIS PASS TO FREEDOM. Posted by: BRIAN at October 14, 2009 11:03 AM You guys are all mad because you are stuck in your 1992 Geo metro and he was in a rollsroyce. Posted by: Allen at October 14, 2009 11:20 AM There are always innocent people involved. Anyone working for this Jew as an office person lost a job, institutional investors took regular investor's money without them knowing it and invested in Madoff's investm, ents. Madoff mixed his regular business with his criminal business. Madoff made people shy to invest in the market. Had it been me...well a prison fight would be the least of his problems, trust me. But as soon as the government gets a little competition, they arrest him and put him in jail. Posted by: fatboy at October 14, 2009 11:33 AM I hope Buba make Bernie his bitch. Madoff screwed so many people its time he gets screwed. Bernie, don't bend over for that bar of soap in the shower, you might regret it. Posted by: Mark at October 14, 2009 11:49 AM Any retard who thinks that all the people who lost money from Madoff's scam were greedy people and that they deserved what they got should be locked up in a jail along with Bernie and they can all run a prison ponzi scheme with the laundry service. It is hard to believe that anyone would actually feel what Madoff did was in any way alright, it's amazing. Posted by: CHill at October 14, 2009 1:19 PM LET A CAT LIKE THIS B,BE ALONE BI HIMSELF ALONE. Posted by: john best at October 14, 2009 2:17 PM It never surprises me when members of society predictably dwell in other people's misery whether for pleasure or as an attempt for their fifteen minutes of fame. To make comments as to the aspects of Madoff's legalities and the motives of his investors without full knowledge of the case history and its intricacies is sheer ignorance. Furthermore, to embellish in the financial losses of others is shameful. However, what is even more shocking in this day and age is the post WW2 "Elders of Zion" mentality that prompts an individual to play the race card regarding Madoff as a Jew and how Nazi's must have hated individuals like Madoff. I recommend that those individuals take a history lesson regarding the history of the Jewish people and the repercussion’s of the Treaty of Versailles. No I am not Jewish nor am I a liberal, but do have a degree in European History from the University of California at San Diego, which makes me a subject matter expert regarding this area. Comments regarding the Madoff case should be more focused towards the weaknesses of the SEC and how they failed to identify the mismanagement of funds by Maddoff. Instead of casting stones towards Madoff's victims or Madoff himself, people should focus on what can be done to overhaul the Securities and Exchange Commission to avoid any type of mismanagement from occurring again. You would think that after the collapse of Enron and other corporations that subsequently cost the average American their life savings, (which also happened with many retirement accounts managed by Madoff), that Congress would have been more proactive with regards to monitoring the SEC. Yes, some individuals did invest solely driven by greed, but we must also remember those victims who lost their entire life savings that they were to retire on, who were not among the rich and famous, and who now have been reported to be homeless; as well as all of the nonprofit organizations that went bankrupt because of the money stolen by Madoff. In the case of the NPO's not only should we feel a sense of communal loss for them but also for all of the individuals who truly once benefitted from their outreach. So my advice to everyone who has posted here or will post here in the future, you should re-evaluate your views before posting to ensure they sound intelligent and actually have some merit equating effectively to the time taken to type your post. Anything else posted embarrasses us as a compassionate and intelligent society. Professor Donald Mason, PhD, MBA, MCJ Posted by: Don at October 14, 2009 2:20 PM Bernies a member of the crips now. I bet you are a liberal aintcha? And professor - while not in possession of a degree in European History, I am fairly well-read regarding WWII and the cause. In actuality, Hitler used the penalties imposed by the Treaty of Versailles to whip ordinary Germans into a frenzied us against them mentality - directly leading to the re-arming of Germany and Hitlers ascension to power. Also - a very well hidden fact is that Nazi Germany erased millions of non-jews as well. Course to hear the jews describe it - only jews were victims of the holocaust - which is patently not true. Madoff is scum who happens to be a jew. It is natural that certain folks will malisciously describe him as such. Posted by: Chuck at October 14, 2009 6:58 PM Bernie knew the rules. Messing with rich peoples money is a capital offense. If he had stolen $100 from a million poor people, nothing would have ever been said. But, a million from a hundred rich folks will land you in stir! He'd have received a lot less time as a pedophile. Sadly, that is more socially acceptable than separating the wealthy from their money. Posted by: REASON WHY at October 14, 2009 7:00 PM Go Bernie! Jews never say it was only the Jews who got put in ovens...but there were 6 million of them. Everyone who has ever gone to school or read a book knows that millions of others were killed too, but they were not singled out as one particular 'religion'. They just didn't fit in with Hitler's white supremacist view of life, as apparently you DO. He used the system and stole money from people who TRUSTED him. That is like stealing money from your mother...it's easy. And they were not in it for a fast buck. Many of his victims invested with him for years. I agree, Bernie does not deserve jail. He deserves to be on the street with nothing. Then lets see how long he survives. Posted by: Fatcat at October 14, 2009 8:21 PM Why did I rip off all of those unsuspecting people who trusted me to be a good steward of their investments? BECAUSE I COULD. So tell me, am I evil? Sure, some of those who were duped by my scheme committed suicide, but am I to blame because they were weak? United States District Judge Denny Chin called my scheme an "extraordinary evil," but does that make ME evil? At my sentencing I said that I was sorry. Doesn't that count for anything? IOW, will I go to hell for all eternity when I die because my expression of sorrow for stealing billions of dollars over 20 years of scheming is simply not good enough to pass muster with God? Posted by: Bernard Madoff at October 14, 2009 8:27 PM Madoff was to blame, of course, he was the mastermind criminal behind the scheme. The gov't. didn't heed warnings by other people thru the years about a probable scam. Other money managers were more than willing to invest for quick profits. Posted by: Barbarian at October 15, 2009 12:11 AM Quite interesting points of views presented by the bloggers here. But if you think how your country was founded (killing local population, slavery), Bernie wasn't that far away from the principles of American capitalism. On a positive side, good thing that such criminal behaviour is harshly punished. Too bad, not all behaviour surfaces. Posted by: Nat of Sydney, Australia at October 15, 2009 1:13 AM You idiots that put things to a stereo type or label a race of folks over one person are one of the largest problems we have in this world. I am a 100% german and am not proud of the stupidity of those years. I can not believe there are people so stupid to label a complete set of folks for one mans activities. It is a disgrace to not only you but to the people that parented you assuming you had parents. Stop the bigotry and get educated to what each race and creed has offered this world in the form of inventions and civilization rather than how we can knock down those whom are different. So many people talk so tough on the internet but those are ussualkly the ones afraid of their own damn shadow. Grow up and quit the ignorance. Posted by: AGerman at October 15, 2009 1:23 AM To Barbarian, You didn't answer my questions. Posted by: Bernard Madoff at October 15, 2009 8:24 AM The cheated investors are somewhat to blame. How many people in the world didn't get finacially ruined. That should have some bearing on accountability. Bernie was the bonfire where people threw their money. Just a quick note to you as my esteemed colleague in the graduate level arena, you do not place multiple commas between "I" and "myself". A comma is supposed to indicate a momentary pause in thought. Those who actually have attained an M.S. in journalism actually are aware of this. Also, the word “believe” is misspelled in your post, as well as “channel”. English 101 states “I before e except after……” but then again you knew this. And you should learn when to capitalize. (Next time use spell check on an ms word document and then copy and paste to avoid illustrating your inability to conjugate a sentence). Lastly, I teach college part time but serve my country in the armed forces full time. I do this so the ignoramuses of the world such as yourself can have the right to retain your freedom of speech. However, after reading your response to a well thought out post I would rather be conversing with a poor Iraqi then someone with such a low intellect as yourself. So I sign off now with my well earned title... Professor Donald Veen Mason, PhD, MBA, MCJ Now how’s that for a title? Posted by: donald veen mason at October 16, 2009 3:35 AM To my esteemed blog brethren the “Barbarian”, Hebrew is defined as the following… Posted by: donald veen mason at October 16, 2009 3:54 AM Gee. I think he is a great guy. Smart too, for outfoxing so many for so long. I supposed most of his money is out of this country, and was for the most part, since he started. I am surprised he allowed himself to be caught. But, maybe, it is another plan he has to "die" in prison, and spend the rest of his years, enjoying that money he put away, out of this country. Ha, ha! Posted by: Edward Jackson at October 18, 2009 6:29 AM Well Bernie We are getting together for the holidays. Are you? No! Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. You will never sit at a family table again. Nor enjoy the freedom we have. You are in a cage. It may not have walls, but you can't get out, never, ever. I hope they take everything from your family member; everything. Was it worth it you dirt ball. Pass the potatoes. Just me. Posted by: Joe D at October 23, 2009 1:25 AM Post a comment |
