October 2, 2009Amazon Pays for Deleting Student's Book Notes
After their disastrous decision to delete all copies of 1984 from their Kindles, Amazon has reached a deal where it pays for also deleting a student's noted that he had taken on the book. Amazon had sent out the digital zap and removed 1984 from all Kindles after a legal dispute about the rights to the Orwell book, but the move also deleted any noted that had been taken on the kindlle. So this student also lost his homework notes. Soon afterwards, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said his company had acted foolishly in deleting 1984 from Kindles, and promised to make it up to customers. So I'm not surprised they quickly came to a settlement with Amazon customers. I still just don't like how these Kindles look though, and wish they didn't have such restrictive DRM setups for their content, but this does make a but more inclined to support! I used to want a Kindle until they did this. At least if I have a book, they can't steal it back in the middle of the night. Posted by: Angela at October 2, 2009 2:52 PM How about using correct grammar? The use of 'noted' should read 'notes', and the use of 'but' should read 'bit'. Have the job cuts made it all the way to proffreaders? Posted by: Anonymous at October 2, 2009 5:48 PM "Jeff Bezos said his company had acted foolishly in deleting 1984 from Kindles, and promised to make it up to customers." This is why Amazon is a success. Jeff treats his customers as they should be treated. This is why customers come back to Amazon. Amazon deserves all the business we can give them. It's refreshing to know an Honest person runs a successful business. Kindles are the first wave of the e-reader future. Posted by: Sandy at October 2, 2009 7:33 PM Who wrote this artice? Terrible grammar! Ditch the spell/grammar checker and go back to school! Posted by: ME at October 2, 2009 8:22 PM Lol Mr.Grammer "Proffreader" hah! It's proofreader idiot. Posted by: hah at October 2, 2009 9:34 PM Mr. Grammer? How about Mr. Grammar! Artice? Let it be people. Posted by: SH at October 2, 2009 10:33 PM Kindles are a waste of money. We have V-Touches and Nokia tables that are much cheaper and you're not tied down by all the crap. Yet you still get the same services. Kindle people just don't know technology. Posted by: KindlesSUCK at October 2, 2009 11:22 PM Kindles are a waste of money.
