Muntadhar Al-Zeidi Freed

Muntadhar Al-Zeidi, the Iraqi man who threw his shoe at President George Bush, will be freed from prison next month after being put in jail for the show throwing.

The Iraqi journalist threw his shoe at President Bush and as an act of political protest, and from what I've read this act, or even showing someone the bottom of your shoe, has a very particular meaning over there, culturally speaking. Still the Iraqi government took a harsh stance on it and sentenced him to 3 years in jail, now being reduced for good behavior.

Clearly you have to face some kind of repercussions after doing something like that, so it's only right that he be punished to some extent. But considering that it was an act of political protest, and not really an attempt to harm the President or commit actual violence, I think it's fair for his sentence to be shortened. Especially with the reports that he had been mistreated while in jail.

Al-Zaidi was initially sentenced to three years after pleading not guilty to assaulting a foreign leader, then the court reduced it to one year because the journalist had no prior criminal history. The act of the 30-year-old reporter during Bush's last visit to Iraq as president turned him into a folk hero across the Arab world amid anger over the 2003 invasion...

They should give him a million dollars for throwing his shoes at Mr. Bush.
Mr. Bush and his comrades’ (Dick, Rice, and Ransfeld among others) were war criminals and mass murders and they should be hanged as Saddan was. It was a shame to jail this man as he was doing a favor to the whole world by trying to hit the "drunk" with his shoes.
I am happy for him and he should be greeted as a national hero instead of convict fellow.
What in the world are we doing? By jailing people that speaks against evil and the wrong?
God Bless Muntadhar Al-Zeidi and all the families Bush and his gang had murdered and whole nations ruined.

Muntadhar Al-Zeidi should have been taken to the US for pitching lessons. Bush should be the one serving time. The world`s wacked and upside down.

I congratulate Mr Al-Zeidi, his actions were commendable.
He should never have been jailed in the first place.
George W Bush and his pack of lying thieves should be 'had' for crimes against humanity.

Congratulations to Muntadhar Al-Zeidi for his act of heroism. If those in the US had any courage at all, they would have given Bush "the boot" way back, as he and his cohorts in war crimes deserve all they get in this world and the afterlife for their ruination of an entire country over arrogance, oil, and plain stupidity... Bush's old CIA daddy got nothing for barfing all over Japanese hierarchy, but this guy gets prison for throwing some shoes...
