Gov. Mark Sanford to Stay?

Is it really possible that Mark Sanford can stay in office after this much disgrace? Apparently the answer is yes, at least in his own mind.

Sanford's own Lt. Governor Andre Bauer (not to be confused with the great actor Andree Braugher) has now called how Mark Sanford to step down, and pretty much everyone on earth, regardless of their political bent sees Mark Sanford as disgraced at this point. But somehow Mark Sanford seems to believe the people are still on his side, and plans to tough it out for the last year and a half of his term.

I have to imagine this is a nightmare for his state's Republican party operatives, who are probably dying to move on and get someone in there who's not tainted by scandal. But Sanford continues to be blinded by true love, or whatever that is he's got going on, and refuses to recognize the political or moral realities of his situation. But maybe I'm wrong. If you lived in that state, would you vote for Mark Sanford agan?

Another Republican that feels he can do anything so long as he keeps the masses confused and ignorant with claims of family values, fiscal responsibility, and belief in God. Pathetic!

Ty, Did you really just make that comment?! Bill Clinton is a Democrat sleeping with an 18 year old among others. And let's not forget the great JFK sleeping with Marilyn Monroe - among others. I believe the proper description is "another politician".........
I suppose you want to blame this on Bush, too.

He is just doing what he wants to do! Just like his affair, he was doing what he wants to do!

Bill Clinton stayed in Office! Why should Stanford be different.

Bill Clinton did his job well. Mark Stanford disappeared for a long weekend to Brazil without properly informing where he was and charged his flight to the state government. He was grossly irresponsible. Bill's big fault was being caught in a lie.

Like Bill Clinton did his job well for Democrats while committed many different sex adulteries, Mark Sanford did his most jobs well for the Republicans while having an extramarital soul mate. But the both have been very risky that they almost get impeached. Therefore, if you are a politician, do not play that game. It's not funny. You may lose your position, election, or reelection.

What does having an affair have to do with doing his job, so he got a little on the side! Thou that has no sin, cast the first stone!

Having an affair seems to be a prerequisite for politicians no matter which side of the ailse they occupy. What matters in Sanford's case is that he abandoned his post and was uncontactable for 6-days while lying to his staff about where he was. That was just the beginning of what has come to be known as the "Sanford Saga" as the latest disclosures show concerning: Flights, use of state resources, campaign funds. All these other issues came to light as a result of his disappearance to Argentina.
