Dinara Safina: U.S. Open Seed #1

Dinara Safina has been ranked the #1 seed in this year's US Open, sparking some controversy in the tennis world as many believe Serena Williams should be the top seed.

Safina is currently the #1 ranked player in the WTA rankings, because of their very particular way of calculating things, but Serena Williams has been in top form recently, and it is suggested that realistically she should not be ranked behind Safina, who has never won a grand slam tournament.

Even some pro tennis players including Venus Williams have questioned Dinara Safina's #1 status. But the good thing about sports is, both Safina and her critics will have a chance to show and prove, out on the court! Hopefully Safina and Serena will meet up in the open. I'll be putting my money on Serena.
