The Only Prince Clip Left on Youtube

As discussed on my main blog, it appears Prince has sent in his lawyers to get all files featuring his name removed from Youtube. Apologies to all those who didn't get to catch all the purple goodies I'd posted. As one last gift to my paisley brethren, here's one last classic Prince clip that The Man couldn't take away from us (yet):

15 RZA Videos

I'm think I'll step up the posting since our days may be numbered with a lot of this material. Here's 10 more from the crates:

How To Download And Save Youtube Videos (UPDATED 8/30/07)

UPDATE 8/30/07: Youtube's latest upgrade broke the javimoya and other youtube video downloader solutions, but this firefox plugin still works on the new youtube, and is the best choice right now. If you don't use Firefox, uhhh, well you should really be using Firefox anyway, dude. Download it!

EDIT: As of 11/11/06, youtube has killed the greasemonkey solution below, but you can easily download youtube videos with the tools at keepvid.com or javimoya.com

Youtube Download

As mentioned earlier, many files have been booted from youtube this week, and that's sure to continue as the site keeps growing and drawing more attention. Luckily the fine people here put together a little script that lets you save youtube files on your computer. You can just follow the instructions in that link, but I'll repeat them here because it's a little involved and some key steps are buried in the comments section over there.

  • 1. Install the Greasemonkey Extension for Firefox.

  • 2. Right-click this .js file and select "Install User Script" (if you don't see that option try step one again)

  • 3. Now on every youtube video page there should be a red bar at the top, that says "Save As" to download Flash video. (see screenshots here)

  • 4. Right click the text in the red bar, select "Save Link As," and save the file as a .flv file. Firefox will rty to save it as "get_video.php," you need to change the ".php" to ".flv," and change the first part to whatever you prefer.

  • Now you need to either download a media player that runs .flv files, or download a program that converts them to other file types. Here are links to both:

    FLV PLayers

    FLV Player

    VLC player

    FLV Converters

    Riva FLV Encoder

    Total Video Converter

And that should do it. Let me know if this works for y'all!

EDIT: Thanks for the new bit of traffic from Digg, but in all fairness it is undeserved since I was just quoting another guy, who already got Dugg a long time ago. Also, while i'm back in here I'll post another method that many may find easier: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

    Dave Chappelle On Oprah

    [link fixed]

Here's the complete show courtesy of jose3030:

Once again, great television from Oprah. I wish they'd gotten deeper into his concerns about the material he was doing, hopefully he'll get to tlak about that more somewhere else. And a few other times I wished she'd let him finish his thought, such as the part about him not being naturally assertive.. but still a great show, and gave me an even greater respect for Dave. The concept of being responsible for everyone who can hear your voice, and not just those who get the joke, is crucial for so many people in media to understand, bloggers perhaps most of all.

Rare Unaired "Munsters" Pilot (Grandpa R.I.P.!)

In tribute to the great Grandpa Al Lewis, who I had the honor of working with at WBAI, here's a Munsters rarity, the original pilot that never aired.

"3 different versions of this episode were filmed. The first was filmed in 1963, and was only 15 minutes in length. It was filmed in color, and featured a slightly different cast. When this didn't sell, CBS went back to the drawing board. A 2nd pilot was filmed in 1964, this time in black and white, and full length. The show sold, but "My Fair Munster" ended up not being the pilot episode ("Munster Masquerade" ended up being the pilot episode). CBS edited the episode to a little over 25 minutes, added a new theme song, and reshot all scenes involving Eddie Munster (different makeup and everything). This is the episode before everything was changed."

    Prince "Daisy Chain" Video

I never knew this track even had a video.. and I didn't really need to be reminded of Prince's aborting Eminem cloning experiment, right after Eminem blew up. The track is actually kinda funky though:

    Carmen Electra Kissing Victoria Silvstedt

This doesn't excite me all that much, but I know folks are looking for it:

    Some info from the superficial:

"I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation as to why Carmen Electra and Victoria Silvstedt would be kissing each other like this, but when a bag of money falls in your lap you don't ask why, you just take off your pants and start fondling yourself. Or, uh, some other analogy that sort of makes sense and doesn't end up with me looking like a pervert."

"I saw that show. It was on TF1's (french tv) "La methode Cauet"... which is a late night. In fact it was a bet Carmen Electra did with Cauet, the show host. She said that Victoria Silvstedt and her would kiss if he snogged another guy on the show. Anyway the two dudes french-kissed and the two girs didnĀ“t. Boy were they disappointed... it was funny 'tho."

Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone - Ridin "video"

    Autistic Basketball Player

Quick, somebody run and grab the movie rights to this:

"CBS ran an incredibly powerful story tonight that brings you to your feet and just keeps on giving each and every minute into it. Jason McElway, an autistic high school basketball team member in Rochester NY, served as the team manager and spirit coach for several years. On the final game of the season the coach let him finally put on a uniform with the rest of the team. Watch what happens then... "

    Lil Kim "Whoa" Video

Kim really needs to get off her high horse, and stop pointing fingers at anybody but but herself. Somebody should have said "whoa" before she let her lawyers take that unwinnable case to trial.
